Id just like to start off...by once again saying how I got 5 out of 5 correct result and scoreline for TM games ;)

Secondly, well done to TM. We should be proud of them for trying their hardest.

Thirdly, we cant expect to play in the WC by just drawing games! Come on! And beating the UAE 1-0 at home? :fear: Currently we are a good 2nd rate Asian team...this is nothing to be ashamed of in a continent boasting some great players and teams.

TM are going through a rebuilding stage and I foresee many MANY great things for us. Be dase Khoda we will rebuild and come back in 5 years time. All good as far as I am concerned.

Players Id like to see leave TM

Shojaee - The less said about this show pony the better

Borhani - Wheres Enayati? :eyebrows:

Kia and Hash - Humble, loyal...pahlavaneh mihandoost...eftekhare as in bacheha mikonam  Thanks for all the great years and memories. We will remember you always!

Karimi - I will always wonder what he couldve been if he wouldve made that move to A. Madrid all those years ago. I will always remember him for his game against Korea in the Asia Cup 2004 and his cross to Hash for that header against Japan in Nawruz a few years ago.

Finally, I would like to say a MASSIVE congrats to the North Korean team! I will be watching them and supporting them throughout WC2010! A team...poor facilities...bad government...poor friendlies...mihan coach...barely a national league....only a handful players plying their trade in professional leagues....God bless them! 100% heart...wonderful stuff! Hope they get as much out of WC2010 as Iran did in WC1998.

Do Asia proud North Korea!

I'm not. They were playing HORRIBLE against Saudi Arabia! They will be crushed against real teams, especially since they will not be playing in they're own country.

i dunno about the 2-2 game against UAE but all i saw in this game against korea was a team that was fighting tooth and nail for the win. THis team has shown at times a very lax attitude on the field but today this was not the case. From the opening whistle till the end, each ball was fought for. Thats all we could really ask for.

Guys,

We are all feeling angry and sad. The events of Iran in the past few days havent helped.

But I am 100% sure TM tried their hardest for us all....this is as good as it gets for them. But thats ok...sure it wasnt enough but come on now...lets be fair...the credit surely must go to these North Koreans....give credit where its due!

I am very confident they wont be crushed and will play very well. This is will hopefully bring some light to their people as TM brought light to us in WC1998.

p.s. Looking into the future I am concerned about just how many young and very talented players the Aussies, South Koreans, Uzbeks and the Saudis have. Some of the younger Saudi guys are Europe league worthy!

What happened to our young guns like Amarei? Kholakhaj? etc etc

Did you guys see how the NK player squandered a shot at a semi-open Saudi goal in the 92nd minute?

Conspiracy theories are a specialty of Iranians in general....BUT, that was the kind of chance which even an average youth player converts 9 out of 10 times.

On the other hand, if somehow NK would have not made it to S. Africa after that miss, that worthless player surely would have spent the rest of his brief life in one of the "Dear Leader's" labor camps.

**** North Korea. They're not a football team. They're a ****ing defensive wall with speedy players.

This failure ultimately rests on our own shoulders. But North Korea is an embarrassment to the beautiful game and to AFC in particular.

Your team just ran out of steam. You should have seen them collapsing after the match. It has nothing to do with the heart to win.

I hope they get manhandled 10-0 in the world cup.

NK showed that basic fundamental football is all you need!!! none of these fancy, showboating, flashy moves, ball hugging, will get it done in today's football, just 11 players playing fundamental football,

yet we still insist to play ali asghari football

Can Borhani score these?

How about Shojaee?

How about ANY current Iranian striker?!!!

Well my dear Spyder, that brings me to some additional points:

1. The final standings for Iran's group were the fairest possible, considering how the five teams performed from the first to the eighth (and last) match. The two Koreas were the most deserving of going to S. Africa, and considering what Saudi accomplished in Azadi stadium; they were surely more deserving than Iran for the playoffs.

2. The only thing that kept us from much earlier elimination, and even finishing at the bottom of the group, was Rahmati's brilliance (if Allah ever game a perfect surname to anyone it was to this fellow), and ocassional piece of individual skill from our more famous players (e.g. Karimi's winner against the UAE in Tehran).

3. In terms of overall talent and efficiency, the post-Branko years have been a nadir; perhaps only surpassed by the dreadful TM squads of the late '80s and early '90s that tried to qualify for Italy '90 and USA '94; in miserable fashion. The team that failed to make it SK/Japan 2002 was truly deserving of a place there (as witnessed by how they played against Ireland), but this squad was far from World Cup material.

4. Considering that logically now a 5-year plan must be put into place for Brazil 2014, TM is still in big trouble; as we just don't have that many solid players now who are under 25, and will be in their prime come that time. It might be up to Rahmati to get us there once again!

be sure they will...this team is so extremly weak, shame on our federation that made them go through!!!

defending with 9 field players...not a single player of them is good!!!

why are you happy for North Korea qualifying? are you North Korean?! they were one of our competitors. if they had scored against Saudi then I would be happy too. this is now good advertising for the worst dictatorship in the world (the second worst is Iran).

Considering that besides the usual European and Latin powehouses that make it past the first round of the World Cup, next year will likely see two or three African teams in the final 16 as well; I tend to think Australia will once again be the AFC's best and only bet for making it there.

SK and Japan will have to rely on superhuman displays by Park J.S. and Nakamura, and NK will be aiming for scoreless matches that perhaps can be won on a set play, or a counterattack late in the game (which is not likely at such a high level).

Robinho and Kaka will expose their 9 man defense on their own.

Arya74 said it best . we did not deserve to go trough and I am glad that this team did not . we would a laughing stock in those games ..
I am sad that Iran do not go the world cup but I am glad that these 21 people did not ( Neku was not bad and Rahamati was the best ) and he deserve to be in team melli
Our loss to KSA and draw with UAE was the ones that we could win .
every damn time that Iran scored first we lost , every time. because as soon as we get ahead , these guys strat to play defensive . Ian is not Italy . even Italian changed their style and they are playing attacking football

Iran's team were horrible in passing balls . a high school team would play better then these guys , drible and more none sense drible .. for what ..
you

anyway , Inha brayey Roghie tonboon nemishe !! .. let's get our attention to next Asian Cup and next world cup . and at last I want to say that
1977 team ( Parvin , hejazi and others ) were truly champion of Asia , three years triple crawn of Asia . All of them had Ghayrat and shoajat , I want take my hat off to that team and say to them that we got you guys for granted ..
you were truly the champs..

On the subject of AFC reps; the game in a few hours time betwen NZ and Iraq should give a pretty good idea of how the Kiwis are going to fare against either Bahrain or Saudi.

NZ is clearly still waaaaay behind Australia in terms of talent and has looked dreadful against both Spain and S. Africa in the Confed Cup, but may still be better than the AFC rep....FIFA has already decided that the return match will be in Auckland, so that will be a major boost.
