All we would have needed more. Plenty of occassions we could have gotten it. Plenty of opportunities missed.

We were shocked when Saudi equalized in Tehran. It wouldn't even have mattered. With a 1-1 we'd be through now.

Sad World, when you play bad and get screwed over by FIFA and AFC, you have no chance.

Very sad result for our Football...

But this is the weakest TM ever.

I hope our football improve a lot at ACL,AC,IPL and TM for 2014.

the tie with uae was it in my opinion. we couldve drawn with saudi arabia, won against south korea, at south korea, won at north korea, etc...

one fvckin point

it isnt anybodies fault other than our own...i agree the level of skill in tm now compared to 06 is down but we had plenty of opportunities to gain points. If you blame anybody its iff and ir. not daei not ghotbi.

Everything was in our hands. We should have, we could have. The reality is...we didn't.

Sad day, indeed.

why was that late (extra time) second half goal by KSA disallowed?

it's not the one point that feels bitter, it's the fact that we were 9 minutes away from qualifying

we play bad football, simple and plain.

Look at the possesion last night it was disgusting, our passing was aweful, he had no control. This is once again result of negligence by the IFF for not allowing our football develop like all the other asian countries. If this doesnt change will actully be playing in the first round of WCQ next time.

It sucks so badly!
but the worst part is, now we feel bad, after a while you forget but then WC starts and then you REALLY feel bad

Ok I saw the result of NK and KSA just a half hour ago, was kinda depressed about it, until now.

It's time for us to have a new start, the 00 era players will be all gone and we must wait for our new stars to arrive.
Lets just forget about the WC and concentrate on AC.., maybe we could do something good there

yeah, but our players were never good enough, both under daei and qotbi we played defensively all game long, as if we are content with tie...................

i think we play too "Ehsasi" it seemed like after we conceeded the goal vs saudi, we had no hope and gave up. leading to conceeding another goal. Our players need to stay calm and composed, to maintain the result rather than giving away the ball.

whats FIFA and AFc fault when we didnt get full points in uae ? every other team did !!
what about the game against saudi how did FIFA affect that ?
conceding a late goal when we played SK is that the FIFAs fault or our team by kicking the ball out of danger area back to opposition for another attack !!
STOP blaming others for our short commings we didnt qualify and we dont deserve to be in WC either

we could've beaten south korea in Tehran
again, we could've even beaten them in Seoul
we could've not tied UAE 1-1
I was PIISSED when we ties Saudi 1-1, but now that result would seem fine to me, much better than the 2-1 we got at the end.

either that, or shojaie could have scored from 2 meters out and we wouldn't be having this conversation...

I feel your frustration. and god knows it's not my first or second time that I feel this sick.. but hey, It's a competitive world out there.. we have to take care of the chances we get.. we just didn't do enough..

at the same time, going back to some of the games, I can remember our Keeper saving our rear ends so many times through out the whole tournament that it's amazing we weren't eliminated much earlier.. (games against KSA away, UAE away, NK in Tehran and away, and today too).. so many great saves.. so many lucky saves..

just as easily, Shojaie could have given us a win today, only if he had shot the ball from 2 meters out..

it's the game of moments and inches..

I actually don't feel that bad this time. Maybe my expectations of this country have been deteriorating over the last few years. I am a fervount Iranian and love my country...but what more can we expect.

We didn't deserve to go to the WC this time around...there was a big lack of quality in our team and management. Don't get too down guys.

I blame Daei and I think he deserves it. Losing at home to Saudi and UAE (1-1) was horrible and if some of you guys remember the subsitiutions he did, you will know it was way worse than Ghotbi's and had no gameplan. Also Gh.R. Rezaei one on one miss when he could have rolled into the back of the net for 3 points, he dived.

I'm really disapppointed.

There's nothing worse than being screwed over and not even the own fans admitting it. Of course we didn't get enough points, but is that an excuse for not guaranteeing fair competition?

Spain also has to beat Iraq, but FIFA doesn't make them start with a one-goal-deficit and suspend Xavi just for fun. All would be no excuse to lose or don't go to the next round, but yet it would be UNFAIR.

Saudis knew a 0-0 would be enough. They didn't take enough risks. Do you really think in case we won 1-0 in Seoul, the final match would also have ended 0-0 in Riyadh? Surely not!

Martin jan, with all due respect, the Saudis even played a back 3 and threw everything forward to score a goal. The N.Koreans were just fortunate, and well organised.

The fault is on the coaches, and mainly Daei. How N.Korea, a team that plays the most Ali-asghari of all footballs managed to qualify and we didn't is amazing. They do not have the our players, our league, our anything. There is no excuse.

I am deeply depressed. Another 4 years of waiting. I just pray that we have learned our lesson and just put a good foreign coach for the national team. The likes of Ghotbi, GN and Daei should not come near the NT until they grow old on a bench and win things.

correct...imagine saudi knowing until 8 minutes from time iran leads korea 1-0
they would have played like this?! it was obvious the 0-0 was planed...

how bi-gheyrat have you to be playing at home against north korea knowhing you can have a straight ticket and being happy with a play off spot...this is arab mentality...

oh but actually no, if we WON, do you think saudi would have played the same as they did vs n korea/ NO WAY

they would played with urgency and thrown men forward, because with a draw they would have been out!

I agree 100 %...

The saudi's did thier best to beat NK, They attacked all day, and in last 15 minutes, thier goal keeper had even come up,and tried to use the time, and not waist a secound......

Why would they want to go and play Bahrain and new Zeland, instead of direct flight to South Africa........?!

Some here, in PFDC,come up with very stupid notions.

That's the typical iranian conspiracy theories. Whenever we f*ck up we blame someone else for our failure. That's so childish man!!!

When we lose a game, it's either I.R. who ordered us to lose, or the players had a fist fight in the locker, etc etc etc. A lot of iranians even claim that the UK controls Iran!! lol

Why can't we just take it as men, and admit that we didn't deserve to go anywhere? Our team and organization was a plain circus. We couldn't even beat 3d rate asian teams under the national ZERO Ali Gooz. How were we supposed to beat SK on their own turf?

watch how egypt played agaisnt italy, with hunger and desire

saudi passed it around and hoped for a goal, but i guarantee you if they knew iran were winning they would be heading out and would throw bodies up into the box, making it more likely n korea score also

YOU CANNOT ARGUE WITH THAT FACT! ITS FACT AND ITS VERY REAL, STOP DENYING IT FOR F@CK SAKES!!

How about u take ur head out of the sand? Did u even watch N-Korea play throughout the whole round ? It's not like they were at the bottom of the group were they? They showed a strong performance over and over again. Do u think it was a cup of cake to beat them when they clearly knew all they had to do was to defend?

Please don't tell me Saudi didn't push!

U know exactly how greedy these arabs are. Do u really believe they would put themselves into danger when they could just qualifiy directly? Pahahaha
