i dont think there were much plans on the part of ghobi to use him in NK game anyways..!! so it must be just an excuse or a small knock like the karimi and heydari situation for the china game..!!

Contrary to the above post, I do think Ghotbi was planning on using him.
I actually think he wanted Shojaei to play a big role in the game.

Where was the news posted?

And as I much as I like Ghotbi perspolisi81, I think its a bit ridiculous to read plots and plans into everything he does and everything that happens with TM...

outside of replacing zandi/khalatbari on the left mid, i can't think of many places for him in our line up, especially with karimi and playing with 2 DMs..!!?
and him just joining the camp for the first time after an exhausting flight and long season..!!

may be as a second forward, but still quite unlikely ..!! i am sure he will be a more integral piece in UAE game...but not for NK..!!

Shojaei surely is one of the most important players currently (he was directly involved in almost every goal we scored in the final phase of WCQ, either scoring or assisting) and he undoubtedly is an important factor in Ghotbi's plans for North Korea - otherwise he would have let him stay in Tehran instead of exhausting him with this trip.

Anyway, I hope this is no major injury and he will be in training again by tomorrow.

I think he was definitely planning to use him, but possibly as a sub.
Also, it might be just because he is tired. Karimi's slight injury also turned out to be tiredness.

this would be a horrible loss.
Im sure hell be back for training tomorrow though.

I really wish the emirates game was first, we could beat the shit outta them and gain confidence THEN play these koreans

The IRIB 2 Sprots News (7 am EST) just showed him and talked to him. He had a pack of ice on his foot. Apparently it has to do with a broken toe which had recovered but was hurt again. He had pain but he was hopeful that he would be fine for NK. It's hard to tell, but things didn't look too good, to be honest. I mean the way he was talking about it, etc.

I just hope he will be fit enough for the bench, and we will be able to bring him if things don't go well.
If we are winning, then we shouldn't risk it, and keep him safe for Wednesday.

guys i dont see why everyone says that shojaei is so important for tm
only because he plays in osasuna i dont say his a bad player but we can
replace him what tm needs is a playmaker we probably have one now (ali karimi)
or some that can score goals and i dont see shojaei fit in any this roles
yes his a good player but he isn that important for tm thet we need cry our selfs to sleep

well he's another player that can take solid shots at the goal. + Ali Karimi needs someone to pass to that can also dribble or make a good pass, in case he needs to shake defenders off when he dribbles. Shojaei counters out his man, releasing pressure off of VH, Karimi and the rest. Having 2 Dribblers like Karimi and Shojaei is a deadly combo.. You focus NK Defense on those two 'dangerous' players, 1 mistake by NK and thats a golden opportuniy for TM. Players with those kinds of abilities become a major threat for a team like NK. It helps the whole team in its own way too.

We scored 6 goals so far in the 5 games of the final stage. Shojaei directly assisted 3 and scored 1 himself.

Only in the freekick goal against South Korea and the first goal against DPR, he was not directly involved.

That's why he is important.

Has Shojaei been ruled out or is he more likely just being held out of practice in order to be 100% for saturday?Does anybody know?
BTW I disagree with anyone saying he isn't that important----I think he is. When he and Karimi are on the field together Karimi will get a lot of attention which is gonna leave a lot of room for Shojaei to take advantage of---we need creative players like him and Karimi in order to be successful. I hope he plays.

Shojaei is important, I agree. He's the one that creates most of our attacking opportunites. Hopefully he will be okay.

As I said in a previous post, I saw him on IRIB Sports News. He had a pack of ice on his foot. He said he had pain, but he was hoping he would recover. My feeling was that it might be more serious than we would like it to be. After all the game is in less than 48 hours. Meanwhile, this reminds me of the Physiotherapist who is with the team and who Ghotbi suggested prepared a South Korean player for a crucial match amazingly quickly. This injury has to do with a broken toe which has healed but was hurt again. I am not so sure if that's the kind of thing the guy can fix in 48 hours. Let's hope so! He is damn important, even if he is used as a sub.

yes, and save ourselves 2 exhausting trips half way across the world in the process, but go tell that to our Stupid IFF and that moron Kafashian heading it they had a chance to legitimately ask for a slight change in schedule a long while back but they dropped the ball...!

ps

I never said Shojaee was not an integral part of tm..!! go back and read..!! if you put all the pieces together, it makes sense for him to sit this one out, and have him fresh for UAE game...!! i doubt he was gonna be any more than a late sub anyways in NK game..!!
unless ghotbi is putting all his eggs in the basket of only WINNING this game, which then that would have been the only way he would have been started and played more than 65 min.

it should be Hash coming on for Shojaei NOT the other way around.

If we are going to score an early goal to dent the NK spirit - forget about starting with Hash.

He's healed and I doubt, if this is the case, that Ghotbi would bench him!
