I don't know which result is better for us in (al-shabab vs al-gharafe) match assuming we beat al-sharjah.
(If we don't beat al-sharjah there's no doubt that the best result is al-gharafe loss)
1- Al-gharafe beats al-shabab (we have a good chance of finishing 1st in the group, and also a good chance of finishing 3'rd if al-shabab beat us in Azadi or even a draw)
2- al-shabab beats Al-gharafe (we will qualify as the 2nd team in the group, we still have a chance of finishing first if we beat al-shabab in Tehran)
3- Draw (Again we have a good chance of finishing 1'st if we beat al-shabab in Tehran, but small chance of finishing third if we lose)

Thx to yashar explanation, we have to beat al-shabab if we want to qualify as the first team in the group no matter what (head to head results counts first). Therefore al-shabab win is the best result 4 us for two obvious reasons.
1- we qualify for the second round regardless of what happends in our last match against al-shabab.
2- we still have a chance of finishing first if we beat al-shabab in Tehran. Notice that even if al-ghrafe beats al-shabab, we still need to beat al-shabab to get the first spot.

Al Shabab has to beat Al gharafe so even if we lose vs Al Sharjah :fear: we will be still second in the group!
I dont care about first or second team in the group!
We just have to qualify!!

We have a good chance of finishing first and play the next round in Azadi which is a huge advantage IMO. Also I don't beleive al-sharja can beat us in uae.

Dadash what I mean is that if Al shabab beat Al sharjah than the result of our game will not change the standings in the table.
So if Al shabab wins they will qualify and maybe send their second team for the game vs Perspolis in Azadi.
Its realy difficult to become first in the group now.
I just hope we will qualify.

well, let's first be safe, then hope for 1st place finish...By far better to have Shabab beat zarafeh, and that will surely give us breathing space, and even guarantee us qualification if we beat Sharja on the same day...NOW, of course it is a huge advantage to win the group and remember that because it is not goal average that counts and it is the head-to-head results (according to our CEO), we can actually beat Shabab at home on the last day and finish first regardless of how many goals shabab has scored or will score against zarafeh...that's if we beat Sharja away tho, which to be honest, if we don't manage to do, I would really question our ability as a team to compete at this stage. I am confident we will beat Sharja away, even if by a goal margine.
basically we get 6 points and finish 1st, or get 4 points and finish second, or get less ans pray that zarafa loses points.

think of it this way, al gharafa has its last game against sharjah and that will be 3 easy points for them. so al gharafa having 9 points is almost guaranteed with 1 game in hand against al shabab.
perspolis will most probably beat sharjah fc as well, so they will make it to 10 points with 1 game in hand also against al shabab.
al shabab is on 10 points with 2 games in hand.
now if gharafa beats al shabab, they will jump to 12 points and perspolis needs to beat al shabab for claiming 1st spot, or just a draw for 2nd spot and qualification. if they lose to al shabab, they will be out of ACL because they will equal al shabab with 10 points but al shabab will have a better GD than perspolis.
if al shabab beats al gharafa, they will jump to 13 points and again, perspolis has to beat al shabab for claiming 1st spot, or just a draw for 2nd spot and qualification. however, in this scenario, even if perspolis loses to al shabab, they will still qualify as 2nd team.
if al shabab and al gharafa draw, al gharafa will end its campaign with 10 points, and al shabab will be on 11 points with 1 game left agianst perspolis.
in that case, again perspolis needs to beat al shabab for 1st spot, a draw will take them to 2nd spot and qualification from the group (because of perspolis inferior GD compared to al shabab). a loss would also make them 10 points like gharafa but perspolis will get knocked out because of gharafa's superior head to head clash.
--------------------------------
so in conclusion:
1)if perspolis wants to qualify as 1st team, they have to beat sharjah fc and al shabab irrespective of any other result!
2)if perspolis draw's al shabab, they will end up as 2nd team qualifying from the group no matter wat unless they somehow manage to make up for the 7 goals GD with al shabab which is extremely difficult.
3)al shabab beating al gharafa is the safest bet for perspolis because only if al shabab beats al gharafa, then perspolis can lose to al shabab and still qualify. if perspolis draws or beats al shabab in tehran, it wont make a difference wat result al shabab gets infront of al gharafa as explained in points 1 and 2 above because perspolis beating al shabab means 1st spot for perspolis, and perspolis drawing al shabab means 2nd spot for perspolis no matter wat happens.
all this is assuming both gharafa and perspolis will beat sharjah fc and perspolis GD will be inferior to al shabab and al gharafa in the next 2 games as well.

ya but yashar tie breaker is head to head from what I hear...but regardless what you said basically makes sense...so let's hope shabab beats zarafeh and put them out of contention, if we beat sharja.

yea, i know that.
doesnt it imply in my post as well?
first its head to head, then goal difference if im not mistaken!
thats exactly why i said, perspolis has no choice but to beat al shabab if they wanna end up 1st in their group.

I'd like to see Al Shabab winning against Gharafe so first our qualification gets guaranteed.
Then we'll be 10 points against Shabab with 13.
And if we wanna be first team in the group it'll be in our hand at Azadi.

If shabab wins we don't finish 1st in the group and I don't want that. so I go for option 1.

to come 1st in ur group, u have to beat al shabab in azadi irrespective of any other result.
it doesnt matter if al shabab beats al gharafeh or al gharafeh beats al shabab as long as perspolis beats al shabab, perspolis will come 1st. if perspolis doesnt beat al shabab in azadi, there is no way perspolis will come 1st in the group irrespective of any other result.
this is assuming both al gharafa and perspolis will beat sharjah fc.

So in that case we need to beat shabab by at least 5 goals. because they have a much better goal difference than us.

no, a simple 1-0 win is enough because if the 2 teams are equal in points, they look at head to head results first and then if that is also equal, then goal difference.
perspolis drew al shabab 0-0 in KSA. so a simple 1-0 perspolis victory in tehran means even if perspolis and al shabab end up with 13 points each (assuming al shabab beats al gharafa), perspolis will be 1st and al shabab second because perspolis has beaten al shabab 1-0 on aggregate.

thx for te info, so head to head result is first and then the goal difference? In this case, n doubt that al-gharafe loss is the best result 4 us, and we still have a chance of finishing 1'st if we beat them in Tehran. Ok, I have to change my first post. I thought if al-shabab wins, we won't qualify as the first team no matter what.
