I mean if I have a technical player who may be near 30's and want to know against what type of team, or where to use him ... and I had 2 choices of :
1- ONE GAME against an arab team, IN IRAN, in a do or die game
or
2- THREE rapid-fire games, against QUICK players, AWAY from home, against 2 KOREAN teams

... I think ANY sane or even half-sane person would pick the first option than the second.

after reading daei's press interview, im starting to feel abit more optimistic about karimi's inclusion after the shabab game.

lets take a look at some of his comments after the kenya game...

first and foremost daei does not rule out karimi's return for the saudi match albeit "a small" chance. in other words, teammelli door is still open and the shabab game will be a criteria to see karimi's fitness level.

in response to a question asked about any possible changes to the squad before ksa fixture, daei again reiterates his desire to select players who are in "top shape" and recalls this is his criteria for teamelli selection. again he keeps things open.

above he makes it crytal clear that karimi is part of his plans and he only needs to prove his capabilities. well that is a harsh thing to say and karimi is a player that does not need to prove anything to anyone. he is a proven player and any team would dream of having him in their line-up. so not so agreeing here with daei but the only positive from the above statement is his openness to inviting karimi, contrary to what some here believe that he is intentionally leaving out karimi for personal reasons.

again he repeats karimi needs to prove his fitness and provided he can complete 90mins of football he shall be called up.

now if you read the above comments carefully youll start realizing that there is a chance for karimi to be selected for the saudi game and all he needs to do is play the full match on tuesday and put on a decent performance and that should be enough.

i personally dont agree with daei's strict treatment to a proven player like karimi. dunga has already announced his roster for the next qualifiers and he has included ronaldinho and kaka both have been out injured for a lil while, the latter being out for more than a month and yet you see the brazilian coach selecting both of them. you need to show a bit more respect to your senior players and although i admire daei's selection criteria which is truly fair and honest, there are certain exceptions he needs to take into consideration.

my verdict:
i feel daei is only showing who is the man here and that there is no partial treatment from his side. karimi is surely gonna play against shabab and expect him to have a good game.
the following day daei will most probably invite karimi and possibly one or 2 other players from the ACL sides in order to take the gloss off karimi's return and further prove his equality in player selection.
and finally he's reason for karimi's selection, "karimi showed against shabab that he is fit and ready and i had already mentioned before that players are who are in good shape will have a place in my squad."


shayad ham aslan injori nabashe but this is the vibe i feel is coming from the coach and i wouldnt get too suprised if karimi gets invited. khoda koneh!
