Denizli was a good coach who didn't have much of a luck in his years in Iran.
Although I wouldn't put him top five, but certainly one of the top coaches we have had for sure.

Alan Rodgers
Stanko (he brought a system to PP that was copied in TM which created one of the best TM in a very very long time.)
Ghotbi (He did what he said he would. he won a title! that's good enough for me!)
Dnizli (He is a better coach than ghotbi, but he won nothing in Iran. that's why on this list he falls below ghotbi)
Parvin (he was not really a coach. He was a manager. He did great during the 1360's when no one would come near PP , he held PP together for a long time. He is truly the face of perspolis)

I still like Denizli. He won nothing fortunetly, but he was a good coach. It would have been good if he coached TM.

During 80's, Parvin was player, coach and manager of PP. He used to keep PP shirts and shorts in his car's trunk! PP would not exist today without his love and effort. I also should mention Khordbin's as Parvin's right arm to keep things going on.

Parvin style of coaching would not being approved by today's standards, but at the time it was working for the team and the fans: attacking, attractive football, victory after victory, championship after championship. He was the main reason PP managed to get millions of fans, and without any exaggeration PP fans used to be almost twice as SS fans.

To me his era is unforgivable. Even when I watch the old games on TV, I still think the 80's team was the best team of PP of all time. The players were together for 6-7 years and they could find each other on the field with closed eyes. They would not add 10 players to the team every season, only one or two players could have managed to make enough impression on Parvin to be invited to the team. There were two news papers in the whole country (Donyayeh Varzesh, and Keyhan Varzeshi), Players would not being distracted by media 24/7, fans used to respect players, players used to respect coaches and the problems would stay inside the team without making the national news!

It was the good old time.

But things are different now, some things are better and some are worse. Many foreign coaches and players came to Iran, advertising is not taboo anymore, people know where players are at anytime of the day or night. They are celebrities and coaching them is much harder and more complex. Foreign coaches can not perform %100 base on having hard time to adjust themselves with country's customs and all the shortcomings (aside players attitudes), and native coaches do not have enough knowledge and experience to reach to "professionalism" status.

Overall, I would take Parvin as my personal choice regardless of his ability or knowledge. For heaven's sake, he was my idol since I was 8 when I saw my first live football match in Ahvaz between PP-Niro Ahvaz (1-1)!

in my humble opinion soltan is not level with any other name for persepolis....as a player and a manager he was earth, wind and fire of the team...the soul and as our good friend behzadb put it the face/ID of the team..he is one HUGE cornerstone that the team stayed together, kept the name...and kept on kicking arse and taking names...I find it difficult to be a true persepolisi and not respect that..

persepolis with him rumbled Amjadiyeh and Azadi in and out for almost 40 yrs..
years.

he brought many things to our football but I would say no one would keep his roots for years to come and never hang out as anythng else...fame never detached him from the people and he remained himself ( provided that many of us here may not be even able to sit and eat what he eats, but staying yourself and bowing to the fans and the people I would say remained his legacy...) as such when mammad booghi ( may he rest in peace) would just yell out ALI teameto bardaro biyar ....and right there he brought the team for the first time to to their real owners...and showed how its done! ...first time they did that I still remember as a little kid in stands and the chill still goes thru my spine ....

that said as he himself has said it all, "hichki az persepolis balatar nist...persepolise ke sarvare hamamoone" damesh garm!
