According to Fars News Agency during Abu-Moslem of Khorasan’s match versus Malavan of Anzali Jean De Negodi, Abu-Moslem’s Cameroonian striker asked the referee, Shahin Haj-Babaei, if he could exit the pitch. Puzzled by the request and thinking that the player may need medical attention the referee granted his wish. Negodi then calmly jugged behind his team’s bench and proceeded to take a piss! Then “zipped up” and got back into the game as if nothing had happened.
Fortunately for Negodi Abu-Moslem does not have a big following in Mashad these days, therefore there were only a couple of hundreds of people in the stadium to witness his response to the call of nature, and apparently the referees in the match were so surprised by the behavior that they could not recall any rules in the book that may have applied to the situation, so the game went on and the small group of fans who were there got a chuckle out of it.
Yesterday Negodi’s teammate and fellow African Erfan Olerom assured reporters that he had no intention of insulting anyone. Nigerian Olerom who has been playing in the IPL for the last few years dismissed Negodi’s pissing incident a simple cultural mismatch! He suggested that Negodi, being new in Iran, is still not familiar we the way things work here and simply relived himself the way he would have had he been playing in Africa! Olerom went out of his way to assure everyone that he had a long chat with Negodi and helped him understand a few of the finer cultural differences between the two countries!
