View Full Version : Ideas for TM friendly prior to S.Korea game

As we all know our most important game of the first leg is against
S.Korea on Feb 11 2009. Today' game proved one thing:

TM needs quality opponent to prepare and test our defense, and this
simply would not happen with friendly games against Paykan. While
the friendly against Kuwait is probably sufficient for UAE, for S.Korea
we need quality opponents

-Use the winter break and invite several quality European teams (possibly
from Spanish/German leagues to have their winter camp in Kish with
friendlies scheduled against TM. Clubs are usually less political than
national teams and easier to negotiate with.

-Get a friendly against Japan or Australia who would not refuse a friendly
against us and think of their group opponents to be similar to us.

I am not aware of current FIFA dates, but we can look at friendlies with
countries like Turkey, Greece, Russian or U.S national teams, who have
less incentive to play games with changing/canceling.

We really do not need our legioners in this games as the back bone of our
TM defense consists of domestic players and they really could use quality
test for tune up.

Any other ideas to have sure proof way to get friendlies?

anything except saipa, qatar or kuwait ;)
I would say Japan would be the perfect option since we probably won't get any non-asian to play us, or at least we are suppose to believe that

If we can get Denmark to a friendly that would be pretty sick.

turkey, croatia, ghana, cameroon, japan, austrailia, russia, ukrine, anything above the 50th rankings pretty much but those teams are all challenging and a good test for us

Mr Taj said on Navad i think a few weeks ago,
That they will either play China.

Or we will play Singapore as of the Asian Cup qualfiers if am correct to prepare against S.Korea.

Something in thoose lines.

The-Red,

Just because they look alike, it doesn't mean they play similar style of football and S.Korea and China play totally different style of football.

Does China even have a coach? I thought their last coach was fired/resigned?

I think the best possible options are Japan, China and Turkey (hopefully)

against the south koreans who play a very good organized and tactical football with high speed, we need :
1- technical abilities
2- physical game
3- tough strikers
4- quick & pacey LB and RB.

playing and trying the same quick football will not help us and will just play into the koreans' hands.

1- technical abilities - with players like shojaei ( if he could emulate karimi's style and be in service of the team ) and jabbari and karimi ( if things get settled by then ) would be wonderful.

2- physical midfield - nekunam shd get more physical.
maziyar zareh would be useful also. same as montazeri as def mid.
bagheri would be nice too.

3- tall and strong strikers. someone like daei.
I'd even say if abasfard could pull it off. use him.
if salehi keeps up his form, use him.
hell, I'd even say use older but physical strikers like fereydoon fazli. why not ?

using khatibi and rezaei is going to be useless.

4- both LB and RB ought to be very quick footed. coz koreans really play well on the wings and we cant get caught off guard.
kaabi and maybe gholamnejad may be able to do it on the right.
but zareh is going to be torn to pieces.
feshangchi sounds good to me.

Of the European teams I would like to play Croatia or Turkey. Germany or Russia will be very good but dont think its possible.

Of the Asian teams either Japan or Australia.

TM needs many things but IFF does not give a damn about what TM needs.

hmmm lets see.....

I would like to play Brazil and France. I definitely want to play Italy (duh!). Sweden and Argentina are good choices too. Lets not forget Germany, England, Mexico and possibly Ukraine. It would be awesome to play USA again and beat them. I think after the brilliant performance against Korea, world power houses are also lining up to play us.

First of all what use is it going to have if the same players will play in the qualifiers over and over again. Secondly, do you guys think that the UAE's game will look like a South Korea 4 vs UAE 1 ? Do you think that UAE will play like they did in their previous games ? Do you have any idea what they are going to do in the first 15 minutes of that qualifier. This will be another Bahrain 3 - Iran 1 if the whole team don't think of it as a hard and a must win match. They have nothing to play for but winning against Iran.
