Tonight, Behrang Safari was excellent for FC Basel in CL qualification game against Swedish side IFK Göteborg in which Basel won 4-2.

After the game, the TV host said that he is very much likeky to be called up for Swedens friendly against France in a couple of months.

He has earlier said that he would like to play for Iran, but if Daei doesn´t do anything soon, he will be lost for ever.

He is an excellent player, left footed, left back.
Please Daei dont miss this oppurtunity!

Ya, that means he will most likely be lost.

Exactly what we need too, a left footed LB that actually knows how to kick the ball.

But I know IFF wont do anything to get him, they are too busy tripping over their own shoe laces and we expect them to run a marathon? :D

We will never get him.....he has already played for the Swedish national team.

Exactly, he has 3 caps for Sweden's A team, so no chance anymore.

He can still change. None of these games have been competitive.

Safaris first game was against Costa Rica. A player named Chanko played in that game for Sweden. Chanko later decided to play for Syria and played for Syria against Iran in Damascus.

Thats like the 100th time this has been mentioned.

As far as I know he also played against USA and that was official, so he can't change anymore. Did Chanko also play in that game?

I checked FIFA.com and all 3 matches he played are listed as official A matches. Chanko's case indeed seems a bit dubious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louay_Chanko

They have to be competitive matches.
This was explained in the Swedish media since Chanko decided to quit the Swedish team and play for Syria 5 months later.

I am not sure if Chanko played against USA, maybe the second half but the Costa Rica and USA game where within the same camp, only a couple of days apart. They would be classified as friendly non competitive games.

wonder what the chanses are that Daei even knows about him and his skills.
someone should ask daei about him if theres any interview soon from pfdc staff members with daei, so that he gets interested and checks him out and gives him a call atleast.

that said, im still very dissapointed that the kid chose sweden, but i think this is a legimit thread and not as the other threads cuz dont think safari ever got the offer from iff for the team.

I didn´t say excellent game, I said Safari was excellent, good crosses, good runs, sometimes I couldn´t tell ifr he was the LB or LM.

He is the typical modern LB who can play defensive as well as offensive.
TM is making a huge mistake here and as someone mentioned earlier,

WE CAN STILL BRING HIM!

Louay Chanko played a game for Sweden and suddenly he was playing for Syria against us!

We can bring this to the attention of IFF or Daei, I know we can!
I just don´t know how

Becuz it is a thread about trying to get Safari to play for TM.

Same with dejaghah, and in both cases it's impossible. So if this one can stay at this forum and the Dejaghah one has to go to the int. one, then I think something is smelling fishy here..

Martin-Reza
08-07-2008, 05:43 AM
We're still discussing if it's impossible. Dejagah already announced he wants to play for Germany only, Safari might be more willing, but I don't think it's possible now after his 21st birthday as I think article 18 from my earlier post points out.

Once it's sure he can't play for Iran anymore, his threads will be in intl. forum too.
