Quite a bold attempt by Ali Daei on his first match against Bahrain and a crucial next one against Kuwait.
Despite the average age being normal at 25.34 years per player , the experience is quite low at 16 games for the squad. There are 7 players who have never appeared for team Melli , 14 players who have less than 10 matches in their record.
Definitely a squad that lacks experience , but then again again previous experienced squads fail to make the grade , so Daei is obviously is looking for motivated young players with an eye on building a whole new team.
Milad Zanidpour , a promising star in Daei's own club Saipa , showed hoe a lethal of a player he is when he was subbed in Against Kuwait Club on Wednesday. His ferocious non-stoppable free kick ensured that Saipa earned the spoils in the Asian Championship league match.
Omran Hanifpour , a towering young defender in the mold of Jalal Hosseini is another debutant who has shown a lot of promise and class in the league with Pas Hamedan.
Vahid Amraei , the young forward from Esfahan who has been a regular for his team at a tender age of 17
Majeed Gholamnejad , a promising midfielder who has a remarkable ability to split defenders with his runs and tenacious player with stamina.
All these young stars are waiting for the big challenge and have the difficult task of repaying the confidence that Daei has put in them. Realistically, though, Daei will be inclined to use the regular starters while having a good bench in case they are needed.
An interesting combination of experience and young motivated players should be heavily tested in the next couple of weeks and only a good result specifically against Kuwait will prove whether Daei is on the right track with such strategy.
