He's not the manager (head coach). And I'm sorry but people's pre-revolutionary nostalgia makes them forget this guy has not coached anywhere meaningful or gotten any decent results in nearly 20 years!

When it comes to football, Mohajerani is the most qualified Iranian to manage our National Teams. He is not there to coach any of our teams; he is there to manage the day-to-day activities of all our national football teams.

Iranian coaches and footballers alike, look up to Mohajerani as he was the man who put Iran's name on the footballing map. He is the reason why Iran to this day receives such high praises from those who are familiar with Asian Football. It is true that he has not managed or coached in quite a while, even so, he is still the best choice for the Manager position. And here’s why. He is capable of creating the required unity within TM camps, which is an essential ingredient for the success of TMs, for without unity there can be no team play.

so is he the manager or not??? We can't even get happy about any news...anyways i think its a good thing if he's in charge and i hope its true.

About Mahajerani, some of you guys may be too young to know him and his background. His serious coaching experience started when he became assistant coach to O’Farrell in the national team. He learned from him. Talking about 35 years ago or so. He was very successful with our youth teams and won Asian championship games for the youth levels. When he became the head coach of Iran, many argued that it was a bit too soon for him but nevertheless, Iran's football at the time was at the top of the Asian level and Mahajerani succeeded in getting us through to WC in Argentina.

He was at the top of Iranian soccer coaching level. Nothing more. The people who praise him day and night in Iran are all his players, like Parvin, Hejazi, Roshan, etc. His knowledge of the game is not at the level of European coaches, but he can supervise the national team efforts as he is respected and experienced. Please do not make out to be football generous or guru. In UAE, he helped them start their football on a more solid ground as there was not coherent football there. But after a few years, the recognized that to advance further they needed European coaches and they sidelined Mahajerani to the youth level and then nothing.

I am glad that he is back in Iran. I think he is a decent man who wants to help. I only hope that with him we do not see any infusion of his students to the coaching rank of our national teams.
