View Full Version : Was Zolfaghar Nasab professional in his comments?

In his comments after the match against Urawa, Zolfaghar Nasab, seemed to give most
of the credit to Sepahan management. He had very little positive to say about Bonacic,
and even said for TM coach, we need a Brazilian, Dutch, Biritish .... or French coach!
I thought his comments were real low quality, in that rather than specifying what
qualification we should be looking for in a future TM coach, his insistance was on
the nationality! At some point, he even said something to the effect that we don't need
Eastern European coaches, or we would be better off with domestic coach?
For one thing, looking at the top teams in Europe, countries like Poland, Croatia,
Czech republic have produced great Football both domestically and internationally.
Infact Poland, Croatia Roumania, Czech republic are almost certain to make it to
Euro 2008 (not so sure about England or even Italy! at this stage)
Secondly, Zolfaghar Nasab and many like him seem to forget this is the first appearance
of our domestic team this far in AFC championship. If he (correctly) blamed GN for
our failure in Asian Cup, shouldnt he also be giving credit to Bonacic for Sepahans
success? It is not like Bonacic took over Sepahan 2 months ago is it?

My logic was: If Zolfaghar Nasab, is crediting GN for TM failure (the coach)
he should also give credit to Bonacic for success (also the coach). What's wrong
with this logic?

his comments were really annoying, completely ignored bonacic's role in sepahan's success

When one succeeds in Iran the likes ZN love to discredit them. They think if they do they become important which is foolish and that what ZN is a FOOL.

he is not such a great expert on football, infact not many Iranians are. If they were our football wouldn't be in the state it has been over the few decades.
The fact that he even mentioned a 'British coach ' was stupid as their coaches are NOT amongst the top reputable coaches in the world. Just look at their league most of the top teams with the exception of manchester utd who btw has a portuguese assistant carlos querez and a 'scottish' coach.
People in Iran just love to talk and talk and talk and have no action plan. When it comes to a topic everyone becomes an expert.

Actually guys he is a very educated coach. His coaching degrees are from Belgium and he also has a university degree in physical education.
His character at times though is questionable. He always criticizes. It is because of him and Talebi that Ivic was fired just before WC98.
