View Full Version : Mexico not coming with their A team...they are coming with their A+ TEAM! our lineup?
Darvish11

i already kinda made a post on this in the official thread, but i think we should keep discussions out of that thread so it wont get clustered and leave that more for tv issues and stuff
SO a lot of people were saying that they didnt think that mexico wasnt coming with their A team, and they were right in a way, this team is more like their A+ team because honestly it is even better than the one they took to the world cup, due in large part to the invitation of nery castillo and cuatemoc blanco.
http://espanol.sports.yahoo.com/tri/noticias/18052007/4/deportes-da-hugo-s-nchez-lista-28-jugadores-selecci-n.html
they are bringing the great oswaldo sanchez, marquez from barca, the two dudes from stuttgart, Bogetti AND bravo, Fonseca...they are coming with full force to say the VERY least.
YET we dont have karimi, mahdavikia, rezaei, or hashemian coming?! What can our lineup possibly be?
----------taleblou? roudbarian? We got nobody!maybe makani lol
kaebi--nosrati--i dont even know any other defenders
---teymourian(not certain)-nekounam-----
kazemian----shojaei------------madanchi
------???!?!!! Dont tell me khatibi or enayati!!!
so if things stay like this we are going to have to pull a MIRACLE to win this game.

This game isnt about winning, its about strategy and tactics. Its a learning experience.
strategy for what? The asian cup? Half of our players starting in this game wont be in the asian cup; its the same as the front page article about the u23 preperation; no matter who you play, it doesnt matter if its not with the same players that you are going to use for the "main event". What good does playing some 3rd rate defender vs cuatemoc blanco going to do for TM and their asian cup preperation? Will it give the 3rd rate defender a learning experience? Maybe, but for the cost of getting schooled by cuatemoc a couple dozen times and having every iranian in the world thinking he is a shit defender.
For tactics? As adesor vafayesas signature says, dont use players that fit your tactics, have tactics that fit your players. We are going to have a totally different set of players playing vs mexico, so how could we work on our tactics in this game?

but here is something positive:
never in my life;not the first game vs mexico, not the germany friendly, not the portugal game, have i ever felt less certain of an iran victory. This is the first time i have ever seriously believed that we will lose a game. I never had this feeling before. So far all of my feelings have been totally wrong. Hopefully this continues.

nypimpofpersia34 jan, this is a friendly game set up for both sides to try out new players, new tactics, it's not a revenge for the wc game, it's good to get a result, but I rather focus on what we get out of it as a team, and not the result we get, in particular considering that we are playing IN Mexico and are chances of winning are slim, however, playing under pressure against a better team can test our defensive and emotional strength as a team against Asia's tougher teams in the asian cup.

im not worried aboutlosing or winning cos i know we wont win...
wat im worried about is the scoreline if they bring their A+ team and we go with our B team :fear:
if we lose badly, it will create a lot of negativity in media (already exists considering ghalenoi is the centra figure of TM right now), and it will demoralize our team just before the asian cup which can be dangerous! :fear:
i wish we were playing some good european team, atleast then maybe they would reconize a few of our talented players and hopefully transfer them to europe! :o

nypimpofpersia34 jan, this is a friendly game set up for both sides to try out new players, .
that would make sense, thats what i thought at first, and that i have no problems with. But the reason that i made this thread was because that what you said is not the case! They are NOT trying out new players! The only new player they are trying is nery castillo and he is probably one of the best mexicans in the world! If this was their B team then i would have no problems, but we are going with a squad with only a couple of our quality players to go up against a team that is stacked like they are, and that really worries me. It could get ugly, and it will not be good for the morale at all.

Despite all the negativity, its in big games like these that new stars are found. Someone coming out in this game and giving their best could result in a new signing of an Iranian player abroad.
There wont be any injuries to your so called precious legionnaires either, if we use new faces.
Iran lacks depth, we need players on the bench that have been exposed and used in situations, this friendly is a lot more useful despite a high chance of defeat (via a scoreline) than using the same (bronco-mentality) lineup and coming away with a 1-0 result in joy.

Guys you have to be realistic, this would be a good game if we see all our starters come but if not it might get ugly, Its always good to train out IPL players but were no gonna be playin with them in the AC. We really need to bring down out startes or this game would be half usless. Im not saying that we have no chance against mexico w/o out starters but it wont get the results we want score wise, or tactical wise. We need to play them with AC team, and if not then thats gonna be our mistake.

Come on guys, you seriously don't think someone really gives a damn about the scoreline with like 10 of our starters missing?!This is meant to be a learning process for some of our players who're pretty close to the starting line-up and our probable subs in the AC.
Of course I wouldn't want to see a 5-0 loss, and I doubt it'll happen since all these players are very motivated, but even if it did happen I wouldn't care much as long as these players gain some of the neede experience tp perform well at the AC.

I am not 100% sure about the A+ team from Mexico. I think you won't see Marquez. The other Euro based players like Pardo may play a half. I think the IFF need to get a solid A side for this game and try and schedule a game against Argentina on the 6th. The Argentinians want a friendly, but have none scheduled.

Is Dos Santos from barca called up?
That's a negative, Dos Santos will be playing in the U-20 team in the World cup in Canada. Hugo Sanchez said he won't call up Dos Santos for the big team until after the U20 WC. Same goes for striker Carlos Vela who belongs to Arsenal but is playing for Salamanca of the Spanish 2nd Division.
And Marquez of Barza WONT play, he got hurt yesterday. Again.
Hugo Sanchez is using this game (and the one that follows vs. paraguay 3 days later) to finetune the team that will play the Gold Cup and the Copa America. As someone in this thread said about the European players I agree, they'll probably play the first half, Nery Castillo will probably come in the 2nd half.
As far as categorizing this team the A team or B team, we're still trying to figure out which the Ateam will be since the coach is new and is still trying to figure that out himself, but the Ateam WILL come out of the players he has called up.

how seriously is the Mexican federation taking this game btw? how do they see it? as a game against a weaker team to give younger guys a chance or a challenge to see how will the team play as a team with its starters on against teams in the Gold cup that are pretty much at the same level as us?

There has not been much talk at all about Iran, or Paraguay whom we'll play 3 days later. But that has nothing to do with Iran itself. The Mexican league is at its final stages. This Friday and Sunday will be the championship games (home and away). The game will be played between Club America (my team) and Pachuca. For those of you in the States, each of these teams has 3 callups to the national team, if you get a chance to watch them do so. America has Cuahuthemoc Blanco (Forward), Castro (Right back, terrible player), and the keeper Guilllermo Ochoa, this guy will be the national keeper for years to come and may play instead of Osvaldo Sanchez.
Pachuca has left back Fausto Pinto, Defensive midfielder Correa, and stricker Cacho.
Besides this, Club America also plays tonight (Wednesday) in Brasil vs. Santos of Brasil in the Copa LIbertadores. There has also been a lot of talk about a 1 1/2 doping allegation on one of our players and the federation morons are trying to schedule an appointment with FIFA.
Those have been the biggest attention getters. 4 or our European based players are champions with a chance for a 5th. And there have been new players called up to the National team.
So you see, the press, radio shows, etc, are talking about absolutely everything except the games themselves; this will change however in the next 4 or 5 days, when the games get closer.
You don't understand the Mexican press, or maybe you do, but we have absolutely the most pathetic idiots covering soccer, always looking for the story behind the story, so we never really hear about formations, tactics the coaches are plannning, or you know, the great stuff that we fans want to know and talk about. Instead they focus on a player who was caught partying and drinking, or the coach who is getting a divorce, or how one player may have played terrible in a match and then was seen with a new Porsche 2 days later, it's ridiculous.
I'll tell you what I think of the game in another post later today. I think I hear my boss coming.

I am looking forward to this match. It helps Iran to evaluate itself, where it really stands in the footballing world. It will shows us, the last year game in Germany was a true level of Iranian soccer (in which we were dominated in the second half by Mexico), or last year game wasn't a true indication of Iranian soccer level.
I really don't care if we loose (as long as it is not embaressing like Saudie's loss to Germany in WC 2002 8-0). Even a 2-0 loss is acceptable to me, as long as our team plays soccer and can show Mexicans and the whole footballing world, Iran really belongs to the elite of the footballing world. This is how Cameroon and Nigerian and African football started back in 1980s (they played beautiful football) then the wins came.

Eight years ago when i was taking High School Spanish, here in Orange County CA, our teacher would tell us to watch 30 min of Spanish TV. I would always watch the Mexican soccer games because they play much better than the MLS players. Even back then I remember America and Chivas always had a strong team.
By the way believe me WE DO UNDERSTAND your frustrations man. The Iranian media is probably more pathetic than the Mexican media by far. These guys not only don't know jack about futbol, but they act as if they are a manager or a coach because they are on a show or work for the press.
Basically they will quickly hype a player into something that he is not, and quickly tear him down when he doesn't meet these expectatioins. Classic example of this is Ali Karimi, who just recently played his last game for Bayern Munich. He had a hat trick agaisnt South Korea in the Asian Games, and played well in a friendly game in Iran against Germany. The Germans nicknamed him "Asias Maradona" and the IRanian media hyped him up big time.
When he got called up to leave his club in UAE and make the move to Bayern Munich, the people were expecting this guy to be a starter and tear it up from day one. Well the thing is he is skilled and talented but he doesn't have the best work ethic. Well to make this long story short when Karimi failed to meet expectatioins, the media turned on him and quickly destroyed the guy.
Also, if a player is caught drinking,or even worse doping believe me he might even get kicked out of the team. Remember this is an Islamic country so things like drugs and drinking is frowned upon big time in Iran.
Trust me we understand yoru frustration. By the way man I watched both Iran Mexico games live. I watched the one in Oakland and the one in Nuremburg Germany. I must say YOU GUYS HAVE SOME CLASSY FANS. I have no problem with Mexican fans at all.

I agree dude I partied with them both when I went up to Oakland when we lost 2-1, and in Nuremburg when we lost 3-1. They didn't rub it in and said that we have a lot of fast players. Actually a few Mexicans offered to buy my dad and I some beers. Since they offered to buy some beers my dad them the food. We were sitting in the main square in Nuremburg, 2 mexican guys from Anaheiim CA and my dad and I from LA. We watched the Portugal Angloa game on the big screen. Hey I even hooked up with a hot Mexican girl later on that night. Can you say "Oraleh essay!"
They are very warm and friendly people and their culture kind of reminds me of our culture. IN fact we got in to a discussion with those two nice guys, adn I was talking to that hot Mexican girl that I hooked up with. She was some rich Mexican girl from Mexico city and her foather was one of the bigwigs for a corporation so she had money to fly to Germany first class and watch the game. Anyways she was "very friendly" and we talked about how in both Mexican and Iranian culture there is an importance of FAMILY.
In both Mexican and Persian culture we value Family. She was telling me about the Mexican value system that people put a high emphasis on being honest and hard working. I basically todl her that in Iran it's the same thing.

Thnx to all for your comments. Quickly, yes we do value family a lot. And we do have some awesome fans. Of course there are always exceptions and you'll always find some idiots that may give the rest of us a bad name but I guess that happens everywhere. I was at the Mexico vs. Iran game in Nuremberg last year.
I'm trying to upload some pics from the game and from the train that took us to Nuremberg, there were about 20 Iranians and another 20 Mexicans in that car and man, we had such a good time. We partied so much just on the way to the game, we weren't even there yet.
I keep getting a note that says that my jpg images are too big, around 500k for the limit of this site which is 175 or thereabouts, anybody know how I can make them smaller so I can put a couple of them on here?
thnx,
alex
