Amir Sapourzadeh a 24 years old German/Iranian footballer was selected for Team Melli's initial roster for the West Asian Football Federations (WAFF) competetion which will be held next month in Lebanon.
Details on Shapourzadeh's inclusion , who plays for the promotion contenders , FC Hansa Rostock , is still sketchy. It is beleived that the player , born in Germany holds a German passport. His inclusion in Iran's team is based on parental rule.

Ive watched a few of his games this season and last and he could be a big help. I dont think hes anywhere near an Ashkan Dejaga, but I think hes a step above our other strikers. My question is, i noticed it said hes selected for the initial roster, does that mean its not certain that he'll play in Lebanon next month?

That's true.
He is included in the initial 40 man squad but he could be eliminated depending on many factors including his availability. I am still not sure if he actually holds an Iranian citizenship/Passport.

Thanks....

I am a bit surprised with the low number of matches he has played n the lower divisions of the Bundesliga!!!

I hope that does not reflect his standard.

For some reason, despite Iran's past love for attacking football, we have very weak and sub standard finishers/ strikers. Anyhelp from abroad is welcome in my book.
