On the news feed it says that bolton have dropped out of the uefa cup places which is rubbish. They are now sixth, places 5 and 6 go to uefa and 7 goes to intertoto cup, and intertoto cup winners go to uefa. So Bolton are still in the uefa spots but there is a chance that if they lose and the lower teams win that they drop from their current position.
Thanks,
yeah i was just gonna say

Your thread title is paradoxical.

Lies. In actual fact 5th, 6th and now 7th place all qualify for the uefa cup. Teams below 7th can enter names into a hat for a draw to see who gets an Intertoto place.
So, Bolton can finish 7th and still automatically qualify for the Uefa Cup.

Interesting, however the quality of the UEFA Cup is surely questioned if mid-table sides are qualifying

True, six teams qualify for UEFA and U-championship and if Liverpool wins the U-championship then then the magic number is Seven not Five.

This makes no sense? It makes no difference if Liverpool win the CL or not.
From EPL two teams qualify directly for CL, third and fourth place have to play a qualifier to join them. Three teams qualify for the UEFA Cup - normally one from the league, and one from each of the cup competitions. But since the FA Cup and League cup have been won by teams in the top four then these places go to the league i.e. 5th, 6th and 7th places. 8th place goes into the Intertoto and will most probably qualify for UEFA Cup too.

I am right, the first 3 teams (1-3) go to European Championship and The next 3 teams (4-6) go tp UEFA cup. If Liverpool win the European championship this year then one more team (# 7th) will go too.

I see, so I corrected the news. I had seen at the beginning of the season that the top 5 would play internationally but oversaw the Cup results...

However if Totenham wins today then Bolton will drop to 7th, and will not qualify for UEFA. Unless, Liverpool bit AC- Milan, and Bolton wins their last game.

Tottenham won and Bolton are seventh, but that would still make them qualify for UEFA Cup if I'm not mistaken (or doesn't the League Cup winner earn a UEFA Cup spot?)

this is confusing, so normally the 6th place means no UEFA Cup spot but due to FA Cup final of two CL participants it's ok. But 7th place not, unless Liverpool wins CL... freaking confusing.

zereshk seems right, I checked some sources and regardless of Liverpool's CL result the 7th place would be enough to qualify for CL.

Totenham won today 2-0, and now Took the 6th place in EPL and Botton is in 7th place. The only way Bolton could go to UEFA is to win for sure last game next week and wait for other results.

I believe 7th should play in Intertoto!

dude, that's wrong. 7th place goes to UEFA regardless of Liverpool's result. 8th place is Intertoto assuming the 8th place team entered it (you have to enter and the highest placed team that enters gets the position).
Liverpool's result will not have a bearing on UEFA or CL places.

No probs - yeah, it usually does end up that UEFA goes to 6th and 7th place in the league since the Premiership is becoming more and more predictable. United, Chelsea, United...zzzzzz
