Hamburg in Crisis
naveedmoula.com – When Hamburger SV flew to Russia for their second Champions League game they not only entered a new country but also a do or die situation. They couldn’t do it, so they “died” and now have a shocking eleven consecutive games without victory.

If Doll and his men had done it they would have left Russia and left their blooming crisis behind them. A crisis that they stopped right before it started but no they couldn’t do it and now they started it instead. They brought it with them on the plane back to Hamburg.

So who’s to blame for this disastrous start of the season? Is it Mahdavikia and Lauth that Doll tried to freeze out? (With Demel and Atouba injured Doll was "forced" to play Mehdi). Of course not! Dolls freeze-out tactics didn’t really seem to work out either as both players were in the situation were they could have improved with a boost in their self esteem but instead they got their feet chopped off by Doll. Doll instead received two red cards from the players to add to the already four red cards this season.

Mehdi admitted his red card was justified while Lauth said that his card was an ugly joke. Anyhow it was the sixth red card this season compared to only one for the whole last season. If that doesn’t point out the crisis the two tables will. In the CL Hamburger SV is the only team in its group with flat zero points. In the Bundesliga HSV is embarrassingly close to the relegation spot (only goal difference separates them from the second last position) with only four points out of five games.

No Doll, Mehdi is not the reason for this situation no matter how much you would like that to be true. In yesterdays game no player ran and fought as hard as the Hamburg crowd favourite. You are the reason yourself…

Hamburg should be thrilled they made the CL because if they had not their UEFA Cup adventure would have ended with a big bang and the clubs economy would also have been in crisis. Now you will have another two games in AOL Arena that will bring the club needed cash. Cash was just the reason Doll refused to renew the contract of Barbarez. The Bosnian who last season for HSV scored nine goals and assisted another thirteen in the league. So what did Doll do to replace Sergej? He dug his own grave!

Doll brought Guerrero and Ljubuja and is now paying the high price for it. Ljubojas performance yesterday was a 7 in Kickers 1-6 grade, just like most of his games this season (zero goals, zero assists in his four league and CL games).

Another big problem is the midfield, or maybe I should say lack of midfield. Without the general Van der Vaart HSV is lost in midfield. Doll never signed a backup for the Dutchman when he knew the wonder boy spends a big part of his seasons injured and that’s another reason to this crisis. Bremen picked up Diego and he has charmed the Bundesliga with one goal and four assists in the first five games.

HSV sportchief Beiersdorfer has said that that the "new" team (No van Buyten, no Boulahrouz, no Barbarez) needs time. But he knows much better than that. He knows today’s team simply is not better than the last eleven games have proved.

Another bad excuse is Sorins claim that the team lacks a good game plan and a clear system. The game plan and system is exactly the same as it what last season where the team shocked Germany with its brilliant football.

What is the solution and will Doll find it? If so will it be with or without Mehdi? Will it be before or after the 28th of October? Because that’s when Mehdi will be back to the Bundesliga, just in time to face Hashemian…

Ps. HSV faces Porto in the CL on 17th of October in the third round

For the most part, I happen to agree with him. All doll has accomplished is bringing new faces and some big names with no results. For that matter, BMunich has done the same. The only difference is that Munich are not under the impression of achieving greatness and Doll is. Doll bought DeJong, VVaart, Sorin, Guererro.... He threw the bunch in the middle of the field hoping to get salad. All he got was salad dressing where the oil and vinegar are separated. The team does not play like a team. Individual talents, thats all there is.

No, thats sadly not true... But most of them. Those who don't like him are always talking trash of him in Germany, though, what sometimes makes him look very bad...
