The defense against mexico in the second half was dismaal at best. Defenders were not staying with their men. The third goal by Mexico, 2 Mexican players were right in front of Mirzapour, with NO ONE covering them.
The ball was consistently in Iran's defensive field in the second half, but there was NO HUSTLING by the iranians to get the ball, it was like they were waiting for a the ball to come to them before even reacting to a play.
The exact opposite was true for Mexico. Their defense was solid, and they didn't even let our guys come up with a decent shot. Golmohammadi was in the right place at the right time. Otherwise, Mahdavikia was forced to shoot from mid field and couldn't even get close to the goal. Our 'star' attackers, couldn't even get a chance as the defense was fumbling around for most of the game. It's not a surprise that we got scored on like we did.
I'm a TM fan and have always been, but now I'm trying to figure out how the team could waste such an opportunity as the world cup with just patty-cake passes and general un-enthusiasm on the field??
