Over the period of time i have spent on various forums i have realised how much us Iranians rate Golmohammadi , but do you think it is time we brought in a younger , yet less experienced defender to pair up with Rezaei. Personally i think that Golmo should retire after this WC because we cannot afford to turn into a team like Italy ( with a very old defence ) , purely because we have many talented defenders ready to jump in Golmo's positions , particularly as i saw at U23 level
Do YOU rate Golmo?
Why?
Cheers,

i dont understand what u mean by the question do u 'rate' him. but from a 1 to 10 ide rate him an 8 by Iranian standards and a 4 or so by international standards. But i dont think we have a proper replacement for him so i cant see him stepping down anytime soon.

I rate him very high cause since the asian cup he have been an outstanding defender and some game even outplayed rezaei
We should be happy to have his experience and defensive abilites in the backline wich will help us agasint the best in the world
I give him a 9

Since the Asian Cup he has performed consistently well, excusing the Qatar own goal. Against Germany, he was the best in defence.

Yes I think he is still very good. Golmohammadi is one of the fewer players in Iran who is very very smart. He uses his mind and brilliance more than his body and fatigue. He is still very valuable, and very much needed.
look at it this way. Why is it that Golmohammadi better than Nosrati?
Nosrati is taller, stronger, even faster, and with more stamina, but non of that is doing him any good, why? because he doesn t have Golmohammadi's smartness and decisionmaking.
Same thing applied to Abedzadeh. Even when he was limping with one leg, he was a great goalie because he used his brain. Mirzapour's dives are more beautiful than Abedzadeh's and looks a lot nicer, but what has he accomplished by them? of course he accomplished, but not enough.
Players like Rezaie, Golmohammadi, Kaebi, Karimi, and Nekounam are players that most of us count on and rely on. Even Karimi at times when he s having a bad game, he can change the result within seconds, just like his performance on saturday.

yea i agree , he should 100% be fixed defender in WC which he will be but after the WC we must give room of development for younger talent , like U23 to stand up to play defence at senior level. This is one of the few ways Iran's defence can progress.

As an esteghlal fan, I always hated to admit, golomo's talent, yet, he is by far,the most consistant player we have in our TM,,,,,,,,,
..................HE DEFENETLY MUST BE KEPT..........................

He's excellent and crucial for the team. I hope he can still keep his good shape until AC 2007. Apart from Nosrati, I don't see any young promising defenders who could replace him currently unfortunately and Nosrati still needs to improve a bit.

I also think he is a starter -
A calm and smart technical defender, unlike Rezaii, capable of "ball Control" to slow down the opposition. He is also capable of making offensive dashes - a role which Branko seem to have done away with !!!
The problem I see is: We don't have a genuine replacement for him. It is one of those thigs which Branko should have thought about a long time ago - he should have tested other midfielders (just as he was) to take his place.

I don't know if you guys would agree but golmo is sometimes a wild card. What i'm saying is that either he plays very well and is on que or he totally just messes up, like he doesn't know what he is doing. It seems that he doesn't have any middle ground.
I may be biased about this because i just can't trust him after Asian cup.
As for replacing him, i think they should try out a few players, i think we need some new blood, but not totally push him out of the picture either.
i reckon he is solid but aftr AC2007 he has 2 make way 4 the risin stars so that his replacement can get enuff xperience in tym for WC2010 qual and Wc2010 itself

He is a very smart player and can read the game extremely well. Best option for the sweeper position. I would have him there with Bagheri and Nekounam in front of him:
---------------Mirza----------------
--Kabi---GOLMO--Rezai--Nosrati--
------Bagheri----Nekounam-------
-----------Karimi------------------
